Definition – Network
The term “net” refers to a structure that has a characteristic pattern from the Latin rite. Several types of networks, such as a computer network, an electrical network, and a social network.
A computer network refers to a collection of interconnected computers and other computers that share information, resources, and services. It can be categorizing according to its size (LAN, MAN or WAN, etc.).The connection method (coaxial cable, fiber optic, radio, microwave, infrared) or its functional relationship (client-server, human to a person).
What are the Uses of Network?
The electrical network, in turn, consists of electrical generators, transformers, power lines, and distribution lines, which are responsible for supplying electricity to household consumers. The system uses different voltages, the highest of which is applying over the most extended distances, and the voltages decrease as the power approaches the user’s premises.
The social network has renewed its meaning in recent years as the term began to be used to define internet sites that endorse virtual communities rendering to welfares. mySpace and Facebook are social networks that bring composed millions of users who can argue messages and files with other network members.
Using Computer Networks
Networks, in general, are complete of “shared resources.” One of their goals is to make all software, data, and hardware available to any network that requests them, regardless of the resource’s physical location and the user.
In other words, the fact that the user is within 1000 km of the data should not prevent the user from using it as if it were from a local source. An example of this is virtual private networks. VPNs, programs designed to create a private on a public web, were initially designed to provide corporate resources for employees who were far from the original network.
VPNs can be download today for several reasons. Most people use VPNs to secure their devices and networks, especially on a public network.
The second goal is to provide high reliability through alternative power supplies. For example, all files can be duplicated on two or three machines, so one of the other copies is used if one is not available. Also, having multiple processors means that the others will do their job if they stop working, although the overall performance will be lower.
Another goal is savings. Minor computers have a better price/performance ratio compared to large computers. They are usually ten times faster than the fastest microprocessors but thousands of times more expensive. This imbalance has led many system designers to create systems consisting of powerful personal computers, one per user, with data stored on one or more machines that function as a shared file server.
What are the Types of Network?
The networks are Classified by size.
LAN Local area network (in English: “Local area network”)
These are the smallest networks like the ones we can install in our department.
- PEOPLE: Metropolitan Area Network (in English: “Metropolitan Area Network”). These are medium-sized chains ideal for a college campus, multi-story library, or commercial building, even part of a city.
- PALE. Global Network (in English: “Global Network”). It is where the largest and most powerful networks, such as global networks or the Internet, come into play.
Networks can also be classifying by the physical method they use to connect.
Networks that connect machines using physical cabling systems: twisted pair, coaxial, or fiber optic. Its advantage is that it is faster, quieter, but less convenient and practical.
Unmanaged Media Networks
Networks connect through distributed and global systems: radio waves, infrared signals, or microwaves such as satellite systems and Wi-Fi. They are a little gentler but much more convenient and practical.
What is the Topology of Network?
There are two models of topology or order
Also named linear, they have a server at the skull of the client’s serial line, and a communication channel called a bus or trunk.
Each computer has a serial connection to the server, which is in the middle of all. Any communiqué between clients must first go through the server.
In the ring. Also called circulars, they connect clients and servers in a chain.
